Louisiana Updates Earned Income Credit Poster

January 26th, 2011

The latest required change to the Louisiana labor law poster is on the Earned Income Credit poster.

  • New 2011 income limits for eligibility for Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) have been added.
  • New information also explains that Advance EITC has been repealed and is no longer available as of Dec. 31, 2010.  Advance EITC allowed certain workers to receive EITC in installments throughout the year, instead of a lump sum during the following filing season.

Our LA state poster is currently being updated with this latest change.  For more information about the Louisiana labor law poster or to learn more about a 1-Year Compliance Protection Plan with automatic updates, go to the Poster Compliance Center Louisiana labor law poster page or call 1-800-322-3636.

New Cal OSHA Safety Poster Is Not A Required Change

January 20th, 2011

Although the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal OSHA) recently issued a new January 2011 version of its labor law poster called “Safety and Health Protection on the Job”, this poster update is not a required change

In fact, we confirmed with the California Department of Industrial Relations that previous editions of this required safety poster may continue to be used, and that the Cal OSHA poster on our current CA labor law poster with a publication date of 8-10 is still in compliance.

The last two updates to this safety poster (November 2009 and February 2010) were also not required changes. All three poster changes were made to some of the telephone/address listings for the 25-plus Cal OSHA offices listed on the poster.

Because Poster Compliance Center prides itself on being “the employer’s most reliable resource”, we only notify our customers about the need to update their posters for mandatory changes.  We also inform customers about changes that have occurred but are not mandatory updates.

Our goal is to ensure that our customers stay in compliance–rather than just trying to sell more posters.

For further information about the CA labor law poster or to learn more about our 1-Year Compliance Protection Plan with free automatic updates, go to the Poster Compliance Center California state poster page or call 1-800-322-3636.

No Federal Labor Law Poster Change for EEOC

January 12th, 2011

Q:  Will the final regulations that were issued by the EEOC at the end of 2010 for the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act cause a change to the federal EEOC poster?

A:  The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) Title II went into effect in November 2009.  At that time the EEOC revised the federal “Equal Employment Opportunity Is the Law” poster to include a new section about GINA (called “Genetics”), and the new version was added to our federal labor law poster.

The final regulations for GINA Title II which were issued in November 2010 did not cause a further change to the EEOC poster.

Washington Labor Law Poster Updated with 2011 WA Minimum Wage

January 7th, 2011

The latest change to the Washington labor law poster is the minimum wage increase to $8.67, effective Jan.1, 2011.

The new minimum wage is included in a 2011 minimum wage announcement from the Washington Department of Labor & Industry, which is provided by the state as a convenience since the previous WA minimum wage poster was discontinued.

Our new Washington all-in-one poster has been updated with this informational minimum wage notice.

The annual Jan. 1 WA minimum wage adjustment is caused by any change in the Consumer Price Index.  There was no minimum wage increase in 2010.
