New NLRA Federal Poster for Private Employers Is Released
September 14th, 2011The new NLRA poster (National Labor Relations Act) that covered private employers must post by Nov. 14 was released today by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
According to the new federal labor law poster, titled “Employee Rights Under the National Labor Relations Act”, the NLRA “covers most private-sector employers. Excluded from coverage under the NLRA are public-sector employees, agricultural and domestic workers, independent contractors, workers employed by a parent or spouse, employees of air and rail carriers and supervisors.”
Federal contractors do not need to post the new NLRA poster since they have been required since June 2010 to post a similar NLRA poster issued by the U.S. Department of Labor.
We are currently updating our federal labor law poster to include the new NLRA poster. This new federal poster will be covered under our OneSystem 1-Year Compliance Plan.
For more information about the federal labor law poster or the 1-Year Compliance Plan with automatic updates, go to the Poster Compliance Center federal labor law poster page or call 1-800-322-3636.
New NLRA Poster Required for Private Employers
August 26th, 2011The latest required addition to the federal labor law poster is a new National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) poster for private employers.
The Final Rule with the new poster requirement was issued yesterday by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and it goes into effect on Nov. 14, 2011. The NLRB is expected to issue the new poster by Nov. 1.
Federal contractors will not need to post the new NLRA poster since they have been required since June 2010 to post a similar NLRA poster produced by the U.S. Department of Labor.
We will publish an updated federal labor law poster including the new NLRA poster as soon as it is issued by the NLRB. This new federal poster will be covered under our OneSystem 1-Year Compliance Plan.

Public Comment Period Ends for Proposed NLRA Poster for Private Employers
February 23rd, 2011The 60-day period for public comments on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking has ended. The proposed rule would require private sector employers to display a federal labor law poster notifying employees of their rights under the federal National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
The NLRB Notice of Proposed Rulemaking was published in the Federal Register on Dec. 22, 2010.
The proposed NLRA poster would be similar to the NLRA poster that federal contractors have been required to post since June 19, 2010, according to the NLRB.
The NLRB is expected to review the public comments and then issue a final rule that may include a new NLRA poster requirement for private employers.
The Poster Compliance Center Research Department continues to monitor this proposal closely. If a new federal poster is required for private employers, PCC will publish an updated federal labor law poster including the new NLRA requirement.
For more information about the federal labor law poster or onesystem, Poster Compliance Center’s 1-Year Compliance Plan with automatic updates, go to the Poster Compliance Center federal labor law poster page or call 1-800-322-3636.
These Federal Laws Do Not Require a Labor Law Poster
February 16th, 2011Q: Do you need to post COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act), CHIPRA (Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act) and PPACA (Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act)?
A: There are no general federal labor law poster requirements for any of these programs. It is possible that there may be industry specific poster requirements or notices that employers must distribute to their employees.
To find out which federal labor laws must be covered on the federal labor law poster or to learn more about a 1-Year Compliance Protection Plan with automatic updates, go to the Poster Compliance Center federal labor law poster page or call 1-800-322-3636.
No Federal Labor Law Poster Change for EEOC
January 12th, 2011Q: Will the final regulations that were issued by the EEOC at the end of 2010 for the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act cause a change to the federal EEOC poster?
A: The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) Title II went into effect in November 2009. At that time the EEOC revised the federal “Equal Employment Opportunity Is the Law” poster to include a new section about GINA (called “Genetics”), and the new version was added to our federal labor law poster.
The final regulations for GINA Title II which were issued in November 2010 did not cause a further change to the EEOC poster.

National Labor Relations Board Proposes NLRA Poster For Private Employers
December 22nd, 2010A proposed rule by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) would require private-sector employers to display a poster notifying employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
The NLRB Notice of Proposed Rulemaking was published in the Federal Register today, and public comments on the proposed rule will be accepted for 60 days (until Feb. 22, 2011).
The proposed NLRA poster would be similar to the NLRA poster that federal contractors have been required to post since June 19, 2010, according to the NLRB.
The Poster Compliance Center Research Department will closely monitor this proposal to see if the final rule that is issued by the NLRB following the public comment period includes a new NLRA poster requirement for private employers. If so, PCC would publish a new federal labor law poster including the new NLRA requirement.
For more information about the PCC federal labor law poster or to find out about a 1-Year Compliance Protection Plan which provides automatic updates for any required changes to your federal (or state) poster, go to the Poster Compliance Center federal labor law poster page or call 1-800-322-3636.
