Washington Changes Workers Comp Poster but Previous Version Still OK
April 4th, 2011You may have heard that a new Workers Compensation poster has been issued by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I).
Although the WA Workers Comp poster called “Notice to Employees – If a Job Injury Occurs” is a required state labor law poster, the new March 2011 version is not a required change, according to WA L&I. The December 2008 version is still valid, and this version is already included on our Washington state poster.
The term “registered domestic partner” was added to the Death Benefits for Survivors section of the March 2011 Notice to Employees poster.
However, L&I explains that this change does not impose any new requirements since Washington state law says that “registered domestic partners have the same rights as spouses”, so the term “spouse” – which is already on the poster – covers registered domestic partners.
