  • New law caused 10 percent increase in all penalties for violating the HIOSH Law (Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health Division).
    • Maximum penalty increased from $70,000 to $77,000 per item.
    • $7,700 mandatory penalty for serious violations
    • Up to $77,000 for willful or repeated violations
    • Possible penalty of up to $7,700 a day for failure to correct violation within prescribed time
