DISCRIMINATION

  • The prohibited category of “sex (gender and/or orientation)” has been expanded to two categories of “sex” and “sexual orientation or gender identity or expression” for all types of discrimination (by employers, by businesses offering services to the public and in housing).
  • Those who wish to file a complaint are referred to as persons who believe they have been “discriminated against in employment, public accommodation or housing” instead of “denied equal opportunity”.
  • Ancestry is a new category of housing discrimination (previously called discrimination by landlords).
  • Age is no longer listed as a discrimination category for businesses offering services to the public and for housing
