TENNESSEE-NTennessee Labor Law Poster Updates
WAGE REGULATION/CHILD LABOR
- Wage Regulation Act: This is a new section of the notice. it includes:
- Employees must be informed of the amount of wages to be paid
- Payment must be at least semi-monthly
- Notice of regular paydays must be posted
- No discrimination allowed in wage rates between employees on the basis of sex
- Child Labor Act: Now covers only Tennessee child labor laws since summary of U.S. Department of Labor child labor laws has been removed.
Changes in other areas include:- New information in section called "Duties of Employers" about required recordkeeping and inspections
- Hours minors are permitted to work.
- Section on occupations prohibited for minors under 16 removed. (One section for occupations prohibited for minors under 18 remains).
- Sections on "Penalties", "Agriculture" and "Exceptions" removed.
DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT
- Discrimination categories have changed:
- "Handicap" has been changed to "disability"
- New phone number added for Spanish speakers
- Website address and other contact information has changed
