YOUR RIGHTS AS A WORKER
- This notice combines 2 previous notices ("Your Rights as a Non-Agricultural Worker" and "Your Rights as an Agricultural Worker") effective Jan. 1, and it has been almost completely rewritten.
- Information added about new family leave laws for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking and for spouses of military personnel
- Definition of who is entitled to Washington Family Leave Act has changed from the previous notice.
- Warning that employers may not fire or retaliate against employees for using leave now applies to entire family leave section, instead of just the Washington Family Care Act as on the previous notice.
- Information for teen workers has been condensed and work hours chart has been removed.
- Information added about minimum wage.
- New Revision Date of 11/08
JOB SAFETY AND HEALTH
- Penalty section changed and new section on "Fatality or Hospitalization" explained
- Language changed regarding advising employees about exposure to hazards and the need for employers to provide training
- Information about allowing employee representative to participate in inspections has changed.
- Section explaining that it is illegal for employers to retaliate against employees who file complaints has been expanded
- New language about legal obligations of employers and rights of employees

WORKERS COMPENSATION (NOTICE TO EMPLOYEES)
- New terms: "Injury or occupational disease" is now called "work-related medical condition" and "doctor" is now called "health-care provider"
- Qualified health-care providers have been expanded to include physician assistants and advanced registered nurse practitioners
- Website address has been added, as well as information about access for persons with disabilities and equal opportunity employer.
- New Revision Date of 12/2008
MINIMUM WAGE
(This is not a required notice--only recommended.)
- As of Jan. 1, 2009, the minimum wage will increase from $8.07 to $8.55 per hour. (This is an annual increase. The minimum wage rate is recalculated each year, effective Jan.1.)
- Minimum wage for workers age 14 or 15 will increase from $6.86 to $7.27 per hour.
