Q: What is the E-Verify poster? Is it included on your state labor law posters?
A: Many states have passed laws that require employers to register with the federal E-Verify program, which is used to determine if workers are eligible for employment. If your state has an E-Verify law, covered employers must register for E-Verify through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and must post the required E-Verify posters.
- Only employers who have registered for E-Verify should post the required posters which can be downloaded during the registration process as proof of their participation in the program.
- Only the DHS can provide these required E-Verify posters to employers.
For these reasons E-Verify posters are not included on our state labor law posters. For further information about E-Verify, or to register for the program and download the required posters, go to the DHS E-Verify home page at https://www.dhs.gov/e-verify or call 888-464-4218.
