Expanded Notification Requirements

New requirement for reporting fatalities or incidents

A revised mandatory Washington labor law poster—Job Safety and Health Protection now include a new requirement for Employers to report any fatality, probable fatality, or incident that results in one or more workers being hospitalized.

This report must be made to the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries Division of Occupational Safety and Health within eight hours of any fatality or incident that results in an employee being hospitalized.

The previous Job Safety and Health Protection notice stated that employers were required to report fatalities or incidents that resulted in two or more workers being hospitalized.

A Labor & Industries website has also been added to the notice for anyone needing more information about the department.
