Get the New Portland Maine Minimum Wage Poster

Although most of the city minimum wage movement has occurred on the west coast, Portland Maine has gotten in on the action and there will be a minimum wage increase to $10.10 effective January 1, 2016.

Specifics of the Law

You may remember that there were two different Portland minimum ballot initiatives in November, and the one with the lower wage increase ended up as the winner. Under the ordinance, the first increase will be to $10.10 on January 1, 2016, with a second increase to $10.68 on January 1, 2017. Beginning on January 1, 2018, and every first of July thereafter, the wage will increase based on the CPI. There is a tipped minimum wage of at least $3.75.
