The Louisiana Workforce Commission has now issued the 2018 version of the Earned Income Credit (EIC) notice, which has a new revision date of July 2018. Based on this update, a new Louisiana state poster will soon be on its way to our customers.

Louisiana’s EIC notice was issued much later this year as compared to previous years, but we were aware of the delay. In April, we communicated with a contact at the Commission, who informed us the notice would not be updated until late summer or fall.

2018 Earned Income Tax Credit Amounts

At the time of hire, employers are required to notify employees who earn less than $48,000 per year that they may be eligible for Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) through the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). These tax credits are reductions in federal income tax liability for people who meet certain requirements.

For 2018, workers’ earned income and adjusted gross income must be less than the following amounts:

  • $49,194 ($54,884 married filing jointly) with three or more qualifying children
  • $45,802 ($51,492 married filing jointly) with two qualifying children
  • $40,320 ($46,010 married filing jointly) with one qualifying child
  • $15,270 ($20,950 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children

The updated notice also includes a new URL for the IRS Earned Income Tax Credit home page (https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/earned-income-tax-credit/eitc-income-limits-maximum-credit-amounts-next-year), where additional EITC resources are available.
