Louisiana Updates Earned Income Credit Information for 2017—New Poster Required

Louisiana has just released its Earned Income Credit (EIC) poster for this year, which has a revision date of March 2017.

Details of the Updates

At the time of hire, employers should notify employees that they may be eligible for Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) through the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). EITC tax credits are reductions in federal income tax liability for people who meet certain requirements.

For 2017, workers’ earned income and adjusted gross income must be less than:

  • $48,340 ($53,930 if married and filing jointly) with three or more qualifying children
  • $44,007 ($50,597 if married and filing jointly) with two qualifying children
  • $39,617 ($45,207 if married and filing jointly) with one qualifying child
  • $15,010 ($20,600 if married and filing jointly) with no qualifying children

One other change to the poster is a new URL for the IRS EITC home page, where people can find additional EITC resources.

That’s all for Louisiana right now, but we’ll keep you “posted” if anything changes!
