Those who find themselves out of work and nursing mothers have been given additional protections now included on a revised labor law poster issued by the Maine Department of Labor.
These changes are found on the Maine Regulation of Employment poster.
A new minimum wage protection for employees has also been added to the Maine Minimum Wage poster, stating that employers may not discriminate against them for discussing their wages with others. An additional update on this poster expands information regarding camp counselors who are exempt from the state’s minimum wage and overtime provisions.
All of these changes are the result of new labor laws that passed in the first session of the Maine legislature covering severance pay, breastfeeding in the workplace and minimum wage topics.
