The latest required changes to the Maryland labor law poster are on the Minimum Wage, Employment Discrimination, and Work Permit for Minors posters.
Maryland’s minimum wage increases to $8.00 per hour effective January 1, 2015, to $8.25 effective July 1, 2015, to $8.75 effective July 1, 2016, to $9.25 effective July 1, 2017, and to $10.10 effective July 1, 2018. In addition, amusement and recreational establishments must pay employees at least 85% of the state rate or $7.25, whichever is higher.
Also, new information has been added to the Employment Discrimination poster specifying a new discrimination category of “gender identity,” and the “national origin” category was expanded to include “ancestry.” Additionally, the “gender/sex” category was changed to “sex.”
Lastly, the Work Permit for Minors poster now specifies that employers must keep a work permit on file for 3 years. Minors must now also complete the required information for the permit online, and the minor, parents and the employer must sign the permit.
