The latest required change to the Massachusetts labor law poster is on the Parental Leave poster.
Massachusetts has a new posting requirement for the Parental Leave Act. The new Parental Leave Act, which expands the current Maternity Leave Act, went into effect on April 1, 2015 and applies to both men and women.
Under the Act, the initial probationary period to qualify for leave has been shortened. There is also a new requirement for written advance notice about reinstatement from the employer who has agreed to leave for longer than 8 weeks. The employee may provide notice as soon as practical if the reasons for a delay are beyond their control. Additionally, the law clarifies that an employee on parental leave for the adoption of a child shall receive the same benefits as an employee on leave for the birth of a child.
We are publishing an updated MA poster with this latest change. The Parental Leave Act also requires employers to post their own policies regarding parental leave. If you order our OneSystem 1-Year Compliance Plan, you will receive a Massachusetts State Letter containing instructions for this additional posting requirement.
