Now Available—New Minimum Wage Notice for California

At last, the wait is over—California’s new Minimum Wage notice has just been released, which means employers in “The Golden State” must pay an increased minimum wage as of January 1, 2019. The notice features new minimum wage rates for both 2019 and 2020 based on employer size.

Details of the Minimum Wage Increases

Minimum Wage Rates for 2019

Effective January 1, 2019:

  • Employers with 26 or more employees are required to pay a minimum wage of $12.00 per hour.
  • Employers with 25 or fewer employees are required to pay a minimum wage of $11.00 per hour.

Minimum Wage Rates for 2020

Effective January 1, 2020:

  • Employers with 26 or more employees are required to pay a minimum wage of $13.00 per hour.
  • Employers with 25 or fewer employees are required to pay a minimum wage of $12.00 per hour.

Meals and Lodging Credits

The Meals and Lodging Credits table has also been updated to include new maximum credit allowances for meals and lodging in 2019 and 2020 for both large and small employers.

There are no other changes to the California poster at this time, but we are anticipating some additional updates in 2019.
