We’ve been hearing lots of questions about the poster for the new Maryland Reasonable Accommodation for Disabilities Due to Pregnancy Law, and we’re here to help with the following Q&A!
Q: Who is required to post a notice about the law?
A: Maryland employers with 15 or more employees
Q: Is a new poster available?
A: Not yet. The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights (MCCR) announced that it is in the process of creating a new required poster.
Q: Do I need to post anything now?
A: Yes. In the interim, MCCR has explained that employers may post the Guidance from the MCCR General Counsel but it is the employer’s responsibility to consult legal counsel to determine if the language posted (in the Guidance) is adequate in complying with the law’s notification clause.
Q: Where can I get this notice?
A: It is available here free of charge.
Q: Can’t we wait until the new poster comes out?
A: No. The MCCR requires an interim posting.
Q: We are covered by Poster Compliance Center’s OneSystem 1-Year Compliance Plan. Do we need to follow these instructions?
A: Yes. You must print and post a separate interim poster until the new poster is issued by MCCR.
Q: Will Poster Compliance Center publish a new Maryland labor law poster?
A: Yes – as soon as the new Accommodation for Pregnancy poster is issued by the MCCR.
