About Labor Law Posters in Illinois

Illinois law requires that employers display labor law posters in a location that is easily accessible to employees. Illinois state law requirements have changed over the years with new legislation. It is important that employers know about these changes so that their workplace posters are up-to-date. Employers who are unaware of labor law changes may be displaying posters that are not in compliance. Poster Compliance Center’s OneSystem is the perfect solution!   • New phone number for Illinois Department of Employment Security.
  • New website address for accessing local offices of DES.

Your Rights Under Illinois Employment Laws (formerly called "Notice to Employers & Employees")

  • Under “Unpaid Wages” new information added:
    • Employees must receive their final compensation on their next regularly scheduled payday.
    • Unauthorized deductions from paychecks are not allowed.
  • Under “Child Labor - Workers under Age 16” new information added:
    • Children under 14 may not work in most jobs.
    • The maximum number of hours that minors may work has been added. Work is limited to 3 hours on school days, 8 hours on non-school days and no more than 6 days or 48 hours per week.
    • New information about requirement for 30-minute meal period.
    • Permissible work hours extended to 9 p.m. from June through September. (Previously the extended hours only applied through Labor Day.)
  • Much of the information on the previous notice has been rewritten or deleted.
  • Revision Date of 6/08 added for the first time.
