Nicknamed the “Ocean State”, Rhode Island is making waves with a new minimum wage in 2016. This will require another update to the compliance posters.

2016 RI Minimum Wage

“Increasing the minimum wage isn’t just the right thing to do on behalf of working families, it’s the smart thing to do for the economy,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez.

On June 17th the Ocean State Governor Gina Raimondo signed legislation to increase the current minimum wage rate of $9.00 (effective January 1, 2015) to $9.60 on January 1, 2016. This is the 3rd minimum wage increase in the last 3 years. Rhode Island is one of many trending states joining the “Raise the Wage” movement – with frequent minimum wage and minimum wage compliance poster changes. This 2016 minimum wage change will bring the number of state changes to 5 since 2014. Previous changes to the compliance posters have been:

Minimum Wage (Jan 2015)

  • Minimum wage will increase to $9.00 on Jan. 1, 2015
