We’ve been watching for Nevada’s Department of Business & Industry to release the 2018 Annual Minimum Wage Bulletin and 2018 Annual Daily Overtime Bulletin, and just like clockwork they were released this week! The bulletins have a new posting date of April 1, 2018.

Please be advised that even though the wage rates remain the same for the year beginning July 1, 2018, employers are required to post the updated notices in their workplaces.

For those who are new to the laws and those who might want a reminder, below we’ve outlined information that can be found on the minimum wage and overtime bulletins.

Details of the 2018 Annual Minimum Wage & Daily Overtime Bulletins

Minimum Wage Rates

The following minimum wage rates apply to all employees in the State of Nevada, unless otherwise exempted:

  • No less than $7.25 per hour for employees to whom qualifying health benefits have been offered or made available
  • No less than $8.25 per hour for all other employees

Overtime Rates

Employers are required to pay employees 1½ times their regular wage rate when they are paid less than 1½ times the applicable minimum wage rate and work more than 40 hours in any workweek or more than 8 hours in any workday, unless otherwise exempted.

The wage rates below which daily overtime may be applicable are as follows:

  • $10.875 per hour for employees to whom qualifying health benefits have been made available
  • $12.375 per hour for all other employees

New Information

The name of the new Director of the Nevada Department of Business & Industry has been added to both bulletins. In addition, fax numbers are now available for the Carson City and Las Vegas locations of the Labor Commissioner’s Office.
