The State of Kentucky has released a new required poster—Equal Employment Opportunity—which describes how the Kentucky Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination. Employers, labor organizations, employment agencies, and licensing agencies must abide by this law.

Equal Employment Opportunity for All

Under the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, employment discrimination based on disability, race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age (40+), and tobacco use is prohibited.

In addition, employment discrimination related to recruitment, hiring, compensation, promotion, training/apprenticeship, and termination—among other categories—is prohibited.

Last but not least, for employees who need help with discrimination complaints, contact information for the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights has been provided.

Recent Kentucky OSHA Changes

Did you know that in late 2016, the Kentucky OSHA poster was updated? It now reflects the anti-retaliation provisions of the U.S. Department of Labor’s OSHA regulations. The poster states that it is illegal for employers to retaliate against employees for raising a safety and health concern or reporting a work-related injury or illness.
