A New Jersey gender equity law goes into effect Nov. 21, 2012, but the required labor law poster may not be issued for several months after the effective date.

The discrimination poster must go through the regulation process before it is issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL).

The new gender equity law (A2647) covers employers with 50 or more employees and also requires distribution of a written copy of the poster.  The NJDOL will post information about the distribution requirement on its website when it becomes available.

The new law requires employers to give workers notice of their rights “to be free of gender inequity or bias in pay, compensation, benefits or other terms or conditions of employment” under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, as well as federal laws Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Equal Pay Act.

We will publish an updated New Jersey labor law poster including the new gender equity poster as soon as it is issued by the NJDOL.  This new NJ poster will be covered under our OneSystem 1-Year Compliance Plan.
