Updated Workers’ Compensation Notice for Tennessee

Did you know that Tennessee was nicknamed the “Volunteer State” during the War of 1812 when volunteer soldiers from the state displayed incredible valor during the Battle of New Orleans? Well, that’s news to us, but we’re happy to volunteer some important information for employers in Tennessee.

The state’s Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has published an update to the Workers’ Compensation Insurance notice.

What’s New for Workers’ Comp?

For starters, information that was on the previous poster regarding which employers are covered under the law has been removed.

Plus, when an injury has been reported, employers are now required to complete a workplace injury form and notify their workers’ compensation insurance company immediately—even if they have concerns about the validity of the claim.

New information on what to do in an emergency has also been added to the notice. Employers should first call an ambulance, and then provide Form C-42 to an injured employee as soon as the individual’s condition has stabilized. This form contains a panel of physicians, chosen by the employer, that an employee may select from to seek medical treatment.
