Wisconsin Child Labor Law Poster Revised
New Information About Permitted Occupations and Rest Requirements on WI Labor Law Poster
Jan. 26, 2012
Wisconsin has revised its required child labor law poster to include new information about the types of occupations that minors under 14 years of age are allowed to perform and the hours of rest required for 16 and 17-year-old employees.
Minors under 14 are allowed to work in certain occupations (street trades, agriculture and work in school lunch programs) subject to the same hourly and time of day restrictions as minors who are 14 or 15 years of age.
In addition, a chart on the "Hours and Times of Day Minors May Work" poster showing the maximum hours of work for 14 and 15-year-old minors has been revised to include both school and non-school week designations for weekly hours. Those minors can work 40 hours a week during non-school weeks and 18 hours during school weeks throughout the year.
The revised poster now states that minors 16 and 17 years of age who are employed after 11 p.m. must have eight hours of rest between the end of one shift and the start of the next shift.
New Posters Available
A revised Hours and Times of Day Minors May Work is included in a Wisconsin labor law poster offered by Poster Compliance Center. The poster meets all of the state's labor law posting requirements for general employers.
