Why do I need to post labor law posters?

Federal, state and local laws require employers to display certain labor law posters so employees know their rights. Failing to post them is a violation of the law and can be costly. For example, OSHA can fine employers more than $16,000 per violation for not displaying the required “Job Safety and Health: It’s the Law” poster, and federal agencies adjust these penalties for inflation every year. State and local agencies can impose their own fines, too.

Beyond avoiding penalties, posting the required notices helps employees understand their protections against discrimination, harassment, unsafe working conditions and other unfair labor practices.
