Maine’s Minimum Wage Set to Increase January 1, 2018

November 1st, 2017
On January 1, 2018, the “Maine” event for employees in the state will be another increase in the minimum wage. As 2017 draws to a close, our Research Department will be watching closely for the updated poster. An Update to Maine’s Child Labor Laws Means a New Poster Is Required

The State of Maine just updated its Child Labor Laws notice, which has a revision date of 7/17. Read on to see what changes have been made by the Department of Labor. Increased Minimum Wage Coming Soon to Maine

Maine Updates Child Labor Poster; New ME Labor Law Poster Required

The latest required change to the Maine labor law poster is on the Child Labor Laws poster. New information has been added to the Recordkeeping section requiring employers to record the schedules and hours worked by minors. Also, superintendents must certify academic standing for work permits for minors under 16, and minors under 14 may not work in most businesses under federal law. Maine Adds New Workers’ Compensation Poster; New ME Labor Law Poster Required

The latest required change to the Maine labor law poster is a new Workers’ Compensation poster. The Maine workers’ compensation law was recently amended and the new poster (rev. 1/13) applies to injuries on and after 1/1/13.  The previous workers’ compensation poster (rev. 6/10) and this new poster must both be posted until 6/30/13, according to the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board. Maine Updates Unemployment Poster; Revised ME Labor Law Poster Required

Maine has updated its mandatory unemployment compensation poster with a new revision date of 7/2012. The revised labor law poster directs TTY users to Maine Relay 711 as well as providing the address of the unemployment claim center in Bangor.  Maine no longer has a claim center in Orono.
