Effective July 1, 2026, the minimum wage in Chicago, IL for employers with 4 or more employees will rise to $17.05/hour (for standard employees) or $12.96 (for tipped employees). The overtime minimum wage will rise to $25.58/hour for non-tipped employees and $21.49/hour for tipped employees. Separate youth minimum wage rates have been eliminated, and the Minimum Wage and Labor Standards notice now clarifies that youth employees must be paid the same minimum wage as other workers. The notice also now contains additional sections on Child Labor Trafficking and Gender Based Violence.
The Paid Sick and Safe Leave notice has also been updated to clarify that paid sick and safe leave can be used to deal with critical safety issues, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking.
Finally, Cook County’s Minimum Wage Ordinance notice has also been updated with Cook County’s new wage ($15.40/hour for non-tipped workers and $9.25/hour for tipped workers).
