Federal Required Labor Law Notices

Unemployment Insurance
The Vermont Unemployment Insurance notice has been updated to state that employees who are forced to leave their job as a result of sexual violence or stalking may be eligible for benefits under the Domestic and Sexual Violence Survivor's Transitional Employment Program. The Employer's Liability and Workers' Compensation notice has also been updated with an email address for the Vermont Department of Labor.
Minimum Wage & Meals and Lodging Allowance & Earned Sick Time
Effective January 1, 2026, the minimum wage in Vermont will rise to $14.42/hour for non-tipped employees and $7.21/hour for tipped employees. Also effective January 1, 2026, the allowable wage deductions for employee meals and lodging has increased to $3.92 daily for breakfast, $4.41 daily for lunch, $4.91 daily for dinner, $13.24 daily or $92.68 weekly for full board, $5.41 daily for nightly lodging, $32.56 weekly for full room, and $112.41 weekly for full room and board. The English Earned Sick Time Act notice has also been updated to state that employees are entitled to use up to 40 hours of sick time "in 2025 and subsequent years." The section on exceptions for small businesses, which only applied up until January 1, 2018, has also been removed. The link to read a complete list of exemptions online has been updated, and the phone number for the Vermont Department of Labor has been updated as well.
Meals and Lodging Allowance
A new notice has been released stating how much money employers are entitled to deduct from employee wages as an allowance for meals and lodging. The notice lists the rates effective January 1st, 2025.

Expanded Unpaid Family & Parental Leave
A new notice has been released discussing expanded access to unpaid leave under the Parental and Family Leave Act. The notice explains types of leave, which employers and employees are covered by the policy, how much leave is available, and what duties employers and employees have regarding unpaid leave.

Minimum Wage
Effective January 1st, 2025, the minimum wage in Vermont will rise to $14.01/hour for non-tipped employees, and $7.01/hour for tipped employees. The maximum tip credit allowed for tipped employees will rise to $7.00/hour.
