The West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act poster has been updated to provide more wage protections for workers in the “Mountain State.” Read on to see what’s new.
Ch-ch-ch-changes on the Poster
According to the law, employers are required to make suitable arrangements with a bank so that employees receive the full amount of their wages when they either cash their check or deposit the funds.
For employees who are laid off or on strike, employers are required to pay all wages owed to them no later than the next regular payday.
Employers must also notify employees in writing—or by an accessible posted notice—about all employment practices and policies regarding vacation pay, sick leave, and other fringe benefits at the time of hire.
In addition, the law now prevents employers from refusing to pay the wages of a subcontractor’s employees.
That’s all the news we have for West Virginia for now, but if anything more changes, you’ll be the first to know.
