Multiple California Cities Increase Their Minimum Wage

This July 1, 2020, California employers in certain cities must begin paying employees the new increased minimum wage. See if your city has received a new wage.

Alameda, CA

Minimum Wage (June 2020)

  • The minimum wage has increased to $15.00
  • The effective date of 7/1/20

Minimum Wage (July 2020)

  • The minimum wage has increased to $16.84
  • Effective  July 1, 2020

Minimum Wage (June 2020)

  • The minimum wage has increased to $15.40
  • The effective date of 7/1/20

Novato, CA

Minimum Wage (June 2020)

  • The minimum wage has increased, and is broken into three tiers:
    • For Very Large Businesses (+100 employees) – $15.00 per hour
    • For Large Businesses (26-99 employees) – $14.00 per hour
    • For Small Businesses (1-25) – $13.00
  • This notice applies to any employee performing more than 2 hours of work in a week within the geographic boundaries of the city of Novato.
  • Going forward, the rate will be adjusted annually on January 1. A schedule of future rate increases is provided on the notice.
  • The effective date of 7/1/20
  • The notice is printed in English and Spanish

  • For employers with 26 or more employees, the minimum wage has increased to $15.00
  • For employers with 25 or fewer employees, the minimum wage has increased to $14.25

Santa Rosa, CA

Minimum Wage (June 2020)

  • The minimum wage has increased:
    • To $15 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees
    • To $14 per hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees
  • The notice also provides information on Santa Rosa Minimum Wage Ordinance NO. ORD-2019-014. This notice applies to all employees who work perform at least two hours of work in a given week within the geographic boundaries of the city.
  • The effective date of 7/1/20
