Minimum Wage

Effective January 1, 2020, employers in the City of Flagstaff, Arizona, must pay employees who are covered under the Minimum Wage Law $13.00 per hour.

The Minimum Wage notice describes covered employees as:

  • Those who work/are expected to work 25 hours or more within the city limits in a calendar year.
  • Those who are/were employed by an employer regardless of the employer’s location or the employees’ immigration status.

Under the law, employees must be paid or earn at least the hourly minimum wage and must be paid the correct wages for all hours worked. Plus, employees are protected from retaliation when exercising their rights under the law.

Discrimination

Flagstaff’s Discrimination notice has been updated to include more reasons for which employment discrimination complaints may be filed. In addition to discrimination based on veteran’s status, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression, employees may now file discrimination complaints related to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, and national origin.
