The state of Rhode Island has a new required labor law poster that covers pregnancy discrimination in the workplace.
Details about the New Poster
Rhode Island’s newest poster, with the full title of “Notice of Right to Be Free from Discrimination Because Of Pregnancy, Childbirth and Related Conditions,” is based on the June 2015 state law with the goal of protecting pregnant workers. Under this law, employees are protected from discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, and related conditions. Additionally, employees have the right to request reasonable workplace accommodations.
This new notice has a revision date of July 2015, and will be added to our Rhode Island poster.
A State with Many Employment Poster Changes
Rhode Island has been busy over the last year with updating their labor law posters. In the last year, there have been four changes to the poster, and the state minimum wage is set to increase from $9.00 to $9.60 on January 1, 2016.
Seeing as there have been so many changes, and that another change is on the horizon, Rhode Island is another state where customers would be smart to order the 1-Year Compliance Plan in order to get a year of free updates.
